The Central Bank of the UAE IBAN standard sets a fixed 23-character format: the AE country code, two numeric check digits, a three-digit institution identifier, and a 16-digit domestic account number. It specifies the ISO/IEC 7064 MOD97-10 checksum.

Structure

The normalised value must match AE followed by exactly 21 digits.

MOD-97

Move the first four characters to the end, convert letters to numbers, and require a remainder of 1.

Bank code

Characters 5–7 identify the institution. Known names are shown from a conservative local directory.

Payment safety: a valid checksum can detect many transcription errors, but it does not prove that the account is open, that the shown bank-name mapping is current, or that the intended beneficiary controls it.
