Google Business Profile Checklist Dubai

A practical Google Business Profile Checklist Dubai for UAE teams — use in-house or with Shabang.

Google Business Profile Checklist for Dubai Businesses

On almost every commercial search in this market — "marketing agency dubai", "dentist near me", "AC repair Marina" — the first three results are a map pack, not a website. Those slots are won on Google Business Profile, and they are available to businesses with no domain authority at all.

For most Dubai SMEs this is the highest-return marketing work available, and it costs nothing but attention.

Set-up

  • Claim the profile at business.google.com, or claim the auto-generated one Google already made for you
  • Verify — video verification is now common in the UAE; have the storefront, signage, equipment and a document to hand
  • Use your real trading name. Stuffing keywords into the name ("Ahmed Plumbing Dubai Marina Best Emergency") is a suspension risk and competitors do report it
  • Set the primary category precisely — it carries more weight than any other single field
  • Add secondary categories only where you genuinely offer that service
  • Address: exact, matching your trade licence. If you serve customers at their location and have no walk-in premises, hide the address and set a service area instead
  • Service area: the emirates or communities you actually serve. Claiming all seven emirates when you cover Dubai Marina hurts you

The fields most Dubai businesses leave empty

  • Services — list them individually with descriptions. This is a ranking surface and almost nobody fills it in
  • Products — works for retail and even for service packages
  • Attributes — women-owned, wheelchair accessible, appointment required, languages spoken
  • Opening hours including special hours — Ramadan hours, Eid, National Day. Wrong hours during Ramadan is the single most common complaint we see
  • Description — 750 characters, written for a human, not stuffed
  • Opening date — "10+ years in business" appears as a trust badge on the profile
  • Booking / appointment link
  • Menu or price list where the category supports it

Photos

  • Exterior with signage, from the direction customers approach
  • Interior, reception, workspace
  • Team — real people, not stock
  • Work in progress, equipment, vehicles with livery
  • Before/after where the category allows it and permission exists
  • Logo and cover
  • Refresh monthly. A dead photo feed reads as a dead business

Reviews — the part that actually decides rankings

  • Ask every satisfied customer, immediately after the good outcome, with a direct short link
  • Never buy reviews. Never incentivise them. Detection is better than people assume and the penalty is worse
  • Reply to every review, positive and negative, in the language it was written in
  • Reply to Arabic reviews in Arabic
  • Negative reviews: respond once, factually, without arguing, and move the conversation offline
  • Velocity matters more than total. Twenty reviews over a year beats sixty in one week

Posts and Q&A

  • Post weekly — offers, updates, seasonal notes. Posts expire, so the cadence is the point
  • Seed the Q&A yourself with the questions you actually get asked, and answer them
  • Monitor Q&A. Anyone can answer, including competitors and confidently wrong strangers

NAP consistency

Name, address and phone must match exactly across your website, your licence, and every directory listing. Inconsistency is one of the most common reasons a technically fine profile underperforms.

Bilingual

Set up Arabic where your customers search in Arabic. Category names, services and description all support it. Reply to reviews in the reviewer's language.

Monthly maintenance

CadenceTask
WeeklyOne post, reply to new reviews, check Q&A
MonthlyAdd photos, review the insights, check for suggested edits Google has applied
QuarterlyAudit categories and services against what you now sell, refresh the description
SeasonallyRamadan and holiday hours, before they start

What to watch in the insights

Calls, direction requests, website clicks, and the search terms people used to find you. Direction requests and calls are the ones that correlate with revenue for most local businesses. Track them against enquiries so you can tell the profile is doing work.

FAQs

How long until a new profile ranks?

Verification takes days to a few weeks. Ranking movement usually follows review velocity and completeness rather than time alone.

Can we have a profile without a physical office?

Yes — as a service-area business with the address hidden. Do not invent an address. Google verifies, and fake addresses get profiles removed.

Does the profile help our website rank?

They are separate systems, but they reinforce each other: brand searches, consistent citations and reviews all support the site, and the site supports the profile's relevance.
