Website Design Cost in India

Directional INR bands for website design in India, with a clear split between template work, custom brand sites and complex UX programmes.

Website design prices in India are often published as complete website packages, so the first question is whether the quote includes design only, design plus development, or a template with brand colours applied. Those are different products even when all three are called web design.

These are market observations, not our rate card. Shabang scopes after understanding the brief. The INR bands below reflect public Indian pricing checked on 10 Aug 2026. They are directional project bands, and the buyer should confirm GST, development, copy, imagery, licences and support separately.

Website design pricing bands

Project fee (INR)Typical design levelWhat to verify
Under ₹25,000Template selection and light visual adaptation for a small siteNumber of pages, originality, mobile layouts and whether development is bundled
₹25,000 - ₹50,000A small business package with a bounded page set and responsive layoutsContent structure, revisions, component states and handoff files
₹50,000 - ₹1,50,000More custom brand expression, information architecture and reusable page componentsResearch depth, copy responsibility, prototype fidelity and design system
₹1,50,000 - ₹3,00,000Content-heavy, ecommerce or higher-stakes marketing experience with deeper UX workProduct states, checkout, accessibility, testing and development scope
₹3,00,000+Complex product UX, multi-language systems, extensive research or a large component libraryTeam seniority, research sample, governance, documentation and implementation QA

The upper bands are not automatically better. A business that needs five clear pages may get more value from a disciplined small scope than from weeks of workshops. Complexity should be earned by the brief.

Source evidence for the bands

Web Design Company India's public packages list ₹25,000 for up to five template-based pages, ₹45,000 for up to ten and ₹85,000 for up to twenty. The published inclusions combine responsive design, on-page optimisation and limited logo work, showing why buyers must ask whether design and build are bundled.

Cloud 9 Digital's 2026 guide places professional websites at ₹25,000 to ₹1,50,000, describes small-business sites around ₹30,000 to ₹40,000, custom brand sites from approximately ₹75,000 and ecommerce from ₹1,50,000. Web Accuracy's market research places complete marketing-site engagements at ₹80,000 to ₹3,00,000.

These publishers sell design or development services, and Shabang has not audited their delivery. The bands are a synthesis of observable asks, not an official Indian tariff and not an endorsement of any supplier.

What a design scope should produce

A complete design engagement can include:

  • Audience, task and conversion-path definition
  • Sitemap and page hierarchy
  • Wireframes for key journeys
  • Visual direction tied to the existing or revised brand
  • Desktop and mobile layouts
  • Components with hover, focus, error, empty and loading states where relevant
  • Accessible type, colour and interaction decisions
  • Clickable prototype for important flows
  • Source files, asset exports and handoff notes
  • Design QA after development

A five-page brochure site will not need every item. The quote should identify which outputs are included rather than hiding them behind a revision count.

The questions that expose quote differences

  1. Is this an original design or a purchased template?
  2. Does the fee include information architecture and wireframes?
  3. Who writes and approves the copy?
  4. Are mobile layouts and non-happy-path states designed?
  5. Is development included, and on which platform?
  6. How many templates and unique components are in scope?
  7. Are accessibility and performance constraints part of design review?
  8. Who owns the source files, fonts, imagery and code?
  9. Is post-build design QA included?
  10. What triggers a change request?

Design-only versus design-and-build

Design-only makes sense when an internal or separately appointed development team has clear technical ownership. Design-and-build reduces the handoff gap when one supplier is accountable for launch. Neither model is automatically cheaper. Read the website development cost in India page and compare total delivery responsibility, not one line item.

Common ways budgets leak

Budgets leak when content arrives after layouts are approved, the mobile experience is treated as a late resize, ecommerce states are discovered during development, stakeholders request new templates after sign-off, or the design supplier never reviews the built site. A short discovery phase and a page-and-component inventory make those risks visible earlier.

How Shabang approaches website scope

We begin with the business goal, audience, page architecture, content ownership, required integrations and conversion measurement. The output may be a focused design sprint, a complete design-and-build brief or a larger web programme. A template can be the right answer; it should simply be named and priced honestly.

FAQs

Does website design pricing include development?

Sometimes, especially on published package pages. Never assume. Ask for separate design, development, content, software and support lines or a written statement that the total includes them.

How many revisions are normal?

Revision counts are less useful than approval stages. Agree when structure, visual direction and final pages are approved, who can request changes and what happens after sign-off.

Is a template website always a bad choice?

No. It can be efficient for a simple brief. The supplier should disclose the template, licence, limits and amount of original work so the price is comparable.
