Local SEO Monthly Routine (30 Minutes)
Run a focused 30-minute monthly local SEO routine for Dubai owners: insights, reviews, photos, posts, NAP checks, and competitor pack scans.
Local SEO does not need a weekly war room. It needs a short, stubborn routine so hours stay true, reviews get replies, photos do not fossilise, and competitors do not quietly lap you. This is a 30-minute monthly checklist for Dubai owners and lean marketing teams — not an agency deck.
If the profile is still incomplete, spend a half-day on Google Business Profile Setup Checklist first; then return here.
Before you start (2 minutes)
Open:
- Google Business Profile Manager (insights + editor)
- Your review short link / QR status
- Website contact page (NAP check)
- A notes doc with last month’s numbers
Optional: rank tool logged to a saved Marina or Business Bay location.
Minute 0–5 — Insights pulse
Write down last 28 days vs previous period:
- Calls
- Direction requests
- Website clicks
- Conversations / messages if shown
- Photo views
Circle the biggest drop. You will pick one fix later — not twelve.
Context on reading these numbers: Track Calls, Directions, and Map Leads. Ranking physics: How Google Maps Rankings Work.
Minute 5–10 — Reviews hygiene
- Count new reviews this month
- Reply to anything unanswered (even old ones)
- Flag clear fakes
- Note top complaint theme (lateness, price, parking)
- Check ask-process compliance with ops ("are we still sending the link?")
Engine refresh: Get and Respond to Google Reviews in the UAE. Crisis path: Fake Reviews and GBP Suspension Recovery.
Minute 10–15 — Hours, special hours, phone test
- Confirm regular hours still match reality
- Add special hours for upcoming Eid, National Day, or known closures
- Call your own GBP number from a non-company phone
- Send a test WhatsApp if that is a primary CTA
- Fix anything broken before the next customer does
Silent phones kill more packs than missing citations.
Minute 15–20 — Photos and posts
- Upload at least 3–8 new real photos if gallery is stale
- Delete obsolete promos
- Publish one honest post (offer, proof, hours) if you have news
- Spot-check product prices if you use products
Playbook: Photos, Posts, and Products That Win Maps.
Minute 20–25 — NAP and category skim
- Compare GBP name/address/phone to website footer
- Quick Google search of your phone for new scrapers
- Confirm primary category still matches main revenue
- Add one missing service people asked for this month
Deep clean only quarterly unless you moved: NAP Consistency and UAE Directories, Categories and Services.
Minute 25–28 — Competitor snapshot
Open two rivals in the pack for your main keyword:
- Their review count delta
- Photo freshness
- Anything new (services, products, posts)
Pick one gap you can close next month. Method: Beat Competitors in the Local Pack.
Minute 28–30 — Decide next month’s single project
Examples of single projects:
- Install review asks on every invoice
- Shoot entrance + parking photo set
- Publish Marina coverage page
- Arabic reply bank for reviews
- Citation phone cleanup after a number change
- Two-week ads test with CAC cap
Write the owner and due date. Hub context: Local SEO for Dubai: Start Here.
Seasonal inserts (swap into the 30 minutes)
| Season | Extra check |
|---|---|
| Ramadan | Hours, post, ad schedules, reply slower evenings |
| Eid / National Day | Special hours before the holiday |
| Summer | Reduced hours honesty; AC-related services for trades |
| DSF / mid-year sales | Retail posts and product prices |

Multi-location version (still ~30 minutes per critical site)
For chains, either:
- Rotate sites (week 1 Marina, week 2 JLT), or
- Central dashboard + 30 minutes on the worst-performing branch
Do not average away a failing location. Governance: Multi-Location Businesses and Franchises.
Vertical flavours
- Marina plumber: emphasise missed-call recovery and review asks after jobs — Plumber playbook
- Business Bay showroom: pin, parking Q&A, product prices — Showroom playbook
- SAB: service area still matches staffing — SAB guide
What not to waste the 30 minutes on
- Redesigning the logo
- Reading algorithm rumours
- Buying citation packages
- Changing primary category every month
- Arguing with one troll review for twenty minutes (flag, reply, move on)
Avoid the classic failure list: Local SEO Mistakes That Kill Map Rankings. Secondary maps platforms only if Google is already healthy: Apple Maps and Bing Places.
Quarterly add-on (extra 45 minutes)
Once per quarter, expand:
- Full citation audit after any move
- Location page refresh
- Admin user audit (remove ex-staff)
- Deeper competitor spreadsheet
- Document vault check for license/lease (suspension insurance)
Printable checklist
- Insights logged
- Reviews replied
- Hours + special hours OK
- Phone test passed
- Photos/posts updated
- NAP skim OK
- Category/services skim OK
- Competitors glanced
- One project assigned
Net-net for owners
Thirty focused minutes beat a once-a-year "SEO project." Pulse insights, clear reviews, test the phone, refresh proof, skim NAP, peek at rivals, assign one improvement. That is how Dubai listings stay alive while everyone else wonders why the pack moved on.

Delegating without losing quality
Owners do not have to execute every minute:
- Reception / dispatcher: phone test, review asks, first-draft reply
- Technician lead: photo uploads from jobs
- Marketing freelancer: posts + competitor snapshot
- Owner: insights interpretation, category decisions, final replies on 1★
What you must not fully outsource without oversight: business name, primary category, address model, and Owner access. Those are company-level risk controls.
When 30 minutes is not enough
Escalate to a project block (2–4 hours) if you see:
- Sudden review bombing
- Suspension or verification prompts
- Office move or number change
- New branch launch
- Ads CAC doubled with no ops change
Then use the deep guides for that crisis rather than stuffing everything into the monthly slot. Launch paths for verticals: Plumber Marina, Showroom Business Bay.
Pairing with paid and organic SEO
Once a quarter, spend an extra 15 minutes asking:
- Are ads covering gaps organic should own?
- Are location pages getting search impressions in Search Console?
- Is brand search rising (good prominence signal)?
Keep local Maps ops separate from content marketing sprints so neither starves. Broader SEO: SEO for Dubai Businesses: Start Here.
Minute-by-minute monthly card (print this)
0–5: Check GBP performance (calls, direction requests, searches). Note big deltas. 5–12: Reply to all new reviews; flag operational issues to the floor manager. 12–18: Upload 3–6 fresh photos (team, premises, recent job — with permission). 18–22: Post one update (offer, hours, proof). 22–26: Q&A scan; categories/services sanity check. 26–30: Hours and holiday exceptions; UTM on any linked booking page.
Quarterly add-ons (extra 30 minutes)
Audit NAP consistency on top directories, refresh cover video if stale, and compare map pack rivals for photo volume and review velocity. Schedule a real customer photo day if your grid looks abandoned.
Multi-location rule
Never copy-paste identical posts across five branches without local proof. Each pin needs native photos and correct hours. Shared management tools are fine; shared laziness is visible to buyers.
